Preschoolers entertain seniors' club members

The Borden Friendship Club members were entertained May 14 by eight four- and five-year-olds from the Borden preschool group taught by Kendall Redhead. The group sang four action songs then were treated to ice cream, iced tea and cookies by the club.

The Borden Friendship Club members were entertained May 14 by eight four- and five-year-olds from the Borden preschool group taught by Kendall Redhead. The group sang four action songs then were treated to ice cream, iced tea and cookies by the club.

The seniors then held their regular May business meeting. Members are invited to the Royal Purple Strawberry Tea and program June 4 at 2 p.m. in Radisson Hall and Maymont and Radisson are invited to Borden for supper and a program June 10 at 5 p.m.

The BCCPC will be allowed to use the room at no cost for May 23 and 24 when they hold their gigantic garage sale in the Borden Community Centre. The committee do a lot of work for the centre with many of the renovations and are raising funds to re-shingle the roof.

Grad 2014 will be serving lunch in the seniors' room and the silent auction items will be in the seniors' room, with bids closing at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Any games the club have on hand such as crokinole, Sorry, etc. will be loaned to the Borden Museum for their 2014 display of games children played along with interactive games children and families can visit the museum and play.

Block's Agencies at Borden recently renovated their office and held their grand re-opening May 15. Block's Agencies in Borden, Langham and Waldheim are owned and operated by Don and Jeanette Block along with their son Lyndon. In Borden, helping in the office, are Julia Orchard and Rachel Block.

They enlarged the office by taking out the wall that formerly was a hair salon, repainted the whole area, installed new ceiling and flooring along with a curved reception desk joined to the computer desk. Behind one wall is a more private area for consultations with clients.

They are refurbishing Ike Block's (Don's father) old desk that was used when he started the business.

Winners of door prizes were Ivan Youchezin, Elizabeth and Reuben Derksen, Gary Palmer, Russell and his mom Joyce Orchard, Ken Saunders, Lorraine Lajoie, Angela Bueckert, Cory Funk, Doreen Flath and Karen Buckingham.

Upcoming is Borden's annual Diefenbaker Days on June 7 and 8, with a parade at 11 a.m. Saturday, slo-pitch ball, kids' activities, steak night and pancake breakfast.

Borden School athletes have been holding track and field clinics the last two weeks with instructors from the University of Saskatchewan coming out. May 22 the athletes go to Griffith Stadium for the Conference B track meet and May 30 for the district meet.
