I was born in North Battleford raised on a farm at Denholm. My first three years of education were in Denholm. I then finished elementary school at Notre Dame School in North Battleford and graduated from the Convent of the Child Jesus.
After obtaining a nursing diploma at St. Paul's School of Nursing in Saskatoon, I married my high school sweetheart, Ted, in 1964. In 1966, Ted and I bought my parents' farm in Denholm.
We raised four daughters - Colleen, Cheryl, Roxane and Bonnie. In 1975, we moved to North Battleford. We now have 10 grandchildren, whose ages range from 22 to 11 and whom we treasure.
Always having an appreciation and love for art, I took art lessons for a couple of years from Marchia Pickett and Kevin Quinlan. Then, due to a busy life that comes from having four children and living on the farm, I gave up painting.
About six or seven years ago, I joined the Battlefords Art Club. I have taken workshops from Bonnie Macnab, Graham Flatt and Lobecia Hardy. I paint mainly in watercolours, but I have also enjoyed using acrylics. I have painted portraits of all 10 of our grandchildren.
I find the companionship and critiquing shared with my fellow club members most satisfying and helpful.
For me, painting is a truly enjoyable hobby. I look forward to the Tuesday sessions and seeing how everyone's talent is evolving.
