Pleasant fall encourages travelling

Welcome to fall. How nice to have cooler temperatures. The scenery in the west showing the lovely colours defies adequate description. In keeping with the season our first floor hallways glow with pretty leaf decorations and pictures of scenery.

Welcome to fall. How nice to have cooler temperatures. The scenery in the west showing the lovely colours defies adequate description. In keeping with the season our first floor hallways glow with pretty leaf decorations and pictures of scenery. We appreciate the work of our decorators.

The nice weather seemed to induce travelling. Many folks enjoyed the company of family and friends, some from afar such as other provinces and the United States. A few people have planned trips to see the rest of Canada. We look forward to their sharing of adventures and showing us pictures on their return.

Sincere sympathy to Maurice Huard on the passing of his wife recently. And, heartfelt sympathy to Audrey Knight in the loss of her son-in-law.

Sept. 19, many people celebrated their August and September birthdays by having a party in the lounge. John Sloan and Company presented their familiar country music, including some polkas, inspiring many to step to the dance floor. A nice lunch of cake, fruit and ice cream concluded the lively evening. Many happy returns of their special days to each celebrant.

Thanks to the people of Third Avenue United Church for sharing their fall supper with us. The meals were delicious and fully enjoyed.

Sept. 27, a shuffleboard tournament dominated the day. Nine teams took part. The plays were well co-ordinated and many excellent shots were placed. Hot bowls of chili and refreshing green salads were offered to players and spectators. Thank you to Joan Bannerman for keeping score. Our thanks to Alice Horn, Phyllis Maloney and Dorreen Svare for serving as referees. Winners and runners up include: A Event - Lise Watch and Mary Zawanda, Maurice Huard and Muriel Johnson; B Event - Dorreen Svare and Ken Elliott, Madeleine Blouin and Raphael Kalichuk; C Event - Winnie Hamm and Amelie Murray, Alice Horn and Shirley Leite; D Event - Phyllis Maloney and Olga Gresiuk, Louis Johnson and Ken Gagne.
