This fun day will include a turkey shoot, pie sale and community garage sale. To book tables for the garage sale, phone Leslie Gray at 306-893-2751.

One of the tables at the garage sale will be available for anyone to donate items, the sale of which will go to the committee. Watch for posters for any further details. Coffee and lunch will be available throughout the afternoon.

The Waseca Recreation Board, consisting of Ronald Hutt vice-chairperson, Ross Campbell secretary-treasurer, Leslie Gray representing the village, Brenda Pluhowy representing the community centre; Walter Campbell representing the hall board, Chase James, youth member, Rodney Weisner and Curtis Sutherland met at the village office on the evening of Feb. 28.

Discussion included the upcoming volunteer appreciation evening, a talent show to be held in Waseca in April, a possible mom and tot exercise class and the annual community meeting to be held in April. Also discussed was a possibility of sponsoring the annual Waseca Stew and Biscuit Supper to be held on Sunday, March 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. Sounds like this year the supper will include live entertainment.

Watch for posters for the above events.

Morris and Renee Donovan spent the past weekend in Saskatoon, guests of their daughter, Lindsay. While there they celebrated Morris' birthday. Belated greetings, Morris.

Unless you're a carpenter, builder or devoted hobbyist, you probably think that a nail is a nail. Nail producing institutions are few and far between. One of these is in Massachusetts and has been producing nails since 1819. Cut nails have been produced there since that time. The machines in that factory rumble and chug away as they did from the beginning chewing up plates of steel and flinging out nails. Before 1850 all nails were cut nails, but then round wire nail was invented and was so much cheaper in price and so much easier to produce that it quickly became the type of nail which most of us are familiar with today. The cut nail is no longer the major market but seems to be favoured for use in hardwood floors and such things as tongue and groove boards. There are many different types of cut nails which are used for different purposes.
