The annual mowing bee was held at the Meota cemetery Monday with a great turnout of men and mowers. Lunch was brought out byCarol Feschuk. There are still someheadstones to clean off, asmany are covered with grass. So there is still some TLC needed to complete the job, but if we all visit and take a broom, it will get done. It is such a beautiful location and the view from there now as you look northward, across the lake, to the rolling hills that are yellow with canola crops in bloom, it is quite spectacular.
Tuesday evening bridge winners at the Do Drop In were David Sharpe and Pat Chase tied with Eric Callbeck and Gerry Fernandes. Close games are good.

Remember the community complex luncheon is on Friday, July 18, at noon. Donations are accepted for hall maintenance and it's a great day for seeing your neighbours and some folks you haven't seen all summer.

The jungle has had its first big job successfully done with the removal of almost all the big trees and undergrowth. There is still lots to be done, but a great improvement already. Most of the big trees had brown centre rot so were past their prime. This is in the 300 block of 2nd Street East.
Concrete has been poured into the Styrofoam forms at the fire hall and at the one site for a new cabin. The under floor plumbing has been done at the fire hall. The work is progressing well in this good weather we've been having.

It would be so much safer for people to use what sidewalks there are rather than walking down the streets now they are busier. Some have been trimmed nicely and we do appreciate the homeowners' work. It also improves the whole picture of our little village to have things tidy.
The flowerbeds at the parks are being worked on. This is a continuous job, all summer, as those weeds just keep on growing.
A reunion of the Chase family was held the weekend of July 5-6, in Meota. This is an annual gathering and a tad smaller this year, but a good time for all anyway.
