People head home for Thanksgiving supper

By now everyone will have had their Thanksgiving and will have consumed at least one turkey over the holiday. Rabbit Lake had its annual harvest supper Oct. 6 at the community hall. About 300 people enjoyed a home-cooked meal and great fellowship.

About 300 people enjoyed a home-cooked meal and great fellowship. People from Spiritwood, Medstead, Mullingar, Mayfair, Sandwith, North Battleford and Saskatoon were in attendance.

It was great to see Brian McLeod and Blair, Bob and Garry Campbell at the supper. All four grew up in Rabbit Lake and happened to be "home" for a memorial to Murray Campbell the same weekend.

Over the last couple of weeks Chad Doell has been doing some traveling in Israel and Palestine. It has been very interesting listening to his adventures.

Carol Rohl spent two weeks working as the postmistress in Norman Wells, N.W.T. Carol speaks of life in a "fly-in" community and it is good to hear what she learned while there.

Get well wishes go to Vic Ricketts who is a patient in North Battleford Hospital. Hopefully we will see him back home soon. We also await Art Penner's return from hospital as well.

Congratulations go to Mrs. Ruth Hepp who celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends at the Rabbit Lake Senior Sunrise Circle, Oct. 12.

The Hoffnungsfelder Mennonite Churches from Rabbit Lake, Mayfair and Glenbush held its Thanksgiving Service and dinner at the Sandwith Hall, Oct. 14. Sandwith Hall will be hosting a ham/turkey bingo and potluck supper Nov. 3. Money raised will go toward hall maintenance.

There was a flu clinic at Rose Gill Lodge Oct. 16.

The monthly potluck supper at the Rabbit Lake Seniors' was Oct. 17.

Election day in Saskatchewan is Oct. 24. Dave Plummer and Greg MacKenzie are running for mayor.

There will be a cow patty bingo at Mayfair Hall, Nov. 9. The evening consists of the bingo, potluck supper and entertainment. Fundraising is a pretty vital part of small-town Saskatchewan and it is what keeps our community facilities operating.
