Organizers of the 2013 Terry Fox Ride and Barbecue appreciate the support of all who participated.
The six-mile ride Sept. 14, starting at Hidden Meadows Ranch and stopping for lunch and swimming at Eight Mile Lake, was attended by 30 horses and riders, three wagons and 16 wagon riders.
Jointly sponsored by the Battlefords Quarter Horse Club, Super A Foods, B & D Meats and Hidden Meadows Ranch, the event collected $1,714.35 in pledges and donations from all participants. All proceeds go to the Terry Fox Foundation.
This year, in conjunction with the ride, Zadie Chapman held her seventh birthday party. Her friends rode horses or on wagons. Zadie asked that her friends and their parents donate to the Terry Fox Foundation in lieu of birthday gifts to herself.
Everyone had fun and felt good about donating and making a difference. Since its inception in 1982, the annual Battlefords Quarter Horse Club Terry Fox Ride has raised a total of $64,414.35 for the Terry Fox Foundation.
