Officers installed for 2013-14

HRL Georgina Schneider welcomed 29 members to the May meeting of the St. Walburg Royal Purple meeting. Following the opening ceremony, Draping of the Charter was performed in memory of long time member Mary Novlan.

May is hearing and speech month, which is part of the Royal Purple mandate.

Installation of officers were performed by Donna Hall assisted by Terry Krzak, Delores Volk and pianist Rosemarie Veenstra. St. Walburg chair officers are now in place for 2013-14. All remain the same as last year with the exception of Lecturing Lady, who is now Irene Kerr. The finance committee agreed to stay on another year as well.

A lengthy discussion on the future of catering by the group was held. A committee was formed to come up with ways to carry on.

Those in charge of Ladies' Night Out, did a fantastic job bringing together a successful evening. Thanks to everyone for the support and we appreciate the neighbouring communities for joining us. The diamond ring was won by Joyce Fowler.

Anyone prepared to go to the Grande Prairie Convention needs to send their registration. Recipes for the 100th anniversary cookbook have to be in by next meeting.

Many thanks to Elks, Ed Mysko and Norman Linkert, for bringing the donated electric piano to the hall for us. We will have a plaque put on it stating it was donated by Les and Bernice Prosser in memory of Royal Purple member Josephine Prosser.

The ladies are looking into the purchase of microphones.

North Battleford will be visiting our June meeting, bringing the travelling gavel.

The first Wednesday in June is National Royal Purple Day. We will be taking cheese, crackers and fruit to the residents at the Lakeland Lodge. June 13 is the final senior dinner before the summer recess. Dinners will start up again Sept 12. Royal Purple does the May meals on wheels delivery. Volunteers are in place.

For the June meeting, which is Decoration Day, members are to meet at the hall at 7 p.m.
