A North Battleford author's first in a trilogy of books will be launched Nov. 15 in Battleford.

Lorne Spencer Hrabia says he has an ability to remember his dreams in great detail.

"I can remember a dream I had when I was eight years old," says Hrabia, "and I can still picture it in my mind."

Hrabia's dreams are an integral element of this end times fiction novel. His protagonist finds himself on a path to destiny as a result of a recurring dream. This dream and others in the book were originally dreamt by the author.

Hrabia has been writing short stories and poetry for more than 30 years. The book 21 Drops is his first book to be published and is book one in The Brighton Furlong Trilogy.

A Western Pentecostal Bible College graduate with a diploma in Pastoral Theology, Hrabia says, "I'm a Christian, so it has Christian content in it. The way I describe it is what I think may happen in the future based on what's happened in the past and what's happening today."

21 Drops is set in the near future - 2020.

He explains, "Basically it's about a guy who has this dream he can't shake, having the same dream every night, and he's looking for someone to try and help him interpret what this dream is all about. He goes to this small town, meets a woman who can help him out ... they finally find all these dreams have a pattern."

Sixty-year-old Hrabia says it took him about a year to write the book. He credits his wife of 38 years, Wilma, for convincing him to write it.

He's been a professional driver for many years, and over the last three, as a courier driver, he's had a four-hour layover on his route. He's put that down time to good literary use.

"I do all my writing in Tim Hortons," he jokes.

21 Drops is the first of a trilogy. He wrote it all out by hand. The second, 14 Visions, was written on a laptop and is due out in February, with 777 days to follow. The trilogy is already completed. He has written an additional spin-off novel, and is working on his fifth novel now.

Hrabia's first novel has been for sale online since the end of July. As a self-published project, he has already sold enough to recoup his cost of the contract. He is confident sales of this edition and the trilogy will eventually edge him toward being able to spend more time at home.

The launch will take place at Battleford Furniture, owned by his good friend Chris Odishaw. Hrabia and his wife and son, who lives in Lloydminster, will be on hand for the event Nov. 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
