Nominations have been announced for several awards presented annually at Neilburg Composite School (NCS). The winners will be presented with their trophies, June 21 at the High School Awards Day in the NCS gym. All parents, grandparents and community members are invited to attend.

Up for the Doolittle Award, which is given to the most improved student overall, whether in academics, attitudinal changes, etc., are Levi McIntosh, Quinton Ryan and Alex Foster.

Ashlee Goodfellow, Alex Foster and Brenna Tyler have all been selected for consideration for the Spirit of Youth Award. This is given to a Division 4 student who shows leadership ability, a co-operative attitude, good academic standing and participation socially, academically and athletically in both school and community activities.

The Junior Athlete of the Year, Boys, could be Connor Urlacher, Garett Brockhoff or Ethan Moir. Nominated as the Girls' Junior Athlete of the Year are Laura Hegel, Ashlee Goodfellow and Avery Moir.

Three students are vying for the Deportment Award which is given to a student who has the ability to get along with teachers and peers, personality and attitude, not marks, are considered. Good luck to Brenna Tyler, Dustin Hafner and Adam Bisson.

The three pupils who are up for the Outstanding Student of the Year are Dustin Hafner, Kasey Schmidt and Laura Hegel. This award is selected by staff members for contributions to all activities, both curricular and extracurricular.

Laura Hegel, Quinton Ryan and Kelton Bossert have all been nominated to be potential recipients of the Dallas Ball Memorial Award. This is given to a student for dedication in sports. Participation and team spirit are important; the award does not necessarily go to the best athlete.

Brian and Joan Gibb and their grandson, James Boyes attended an academic awards program for the college of education, University of Saskatchewan, at the Hilton Garden in Saskatoon, Jan. 28. They were in attendance to present the Barbara Gibb Memorial Bursary at one of the undergraduate awards presentations. The recipient was Mackenzie Olsen. The Barbara Gibb Memorial Award, in the amount of $500, is presented annually to a student who has either graduated from Neilburg Composite School or from the Northwest School Division No. 203.
