No rest for BCP

Battlefords Community Players have no time to bask in the success of their previous season. The next season begins now. Plans for 2014-15 are well underway with a season of four shows, all with at least four performances including a preview night.

Battlefords Community Players have no time to bask in the success of their previous season. The next season begins now.

Plans for 2014-15 are well underway with a season of four shows, all with at least four performances including a preview night. Three are comedies.

The season will be split between the Dekker Centre with two shows and the Western Development Museum with two.

Plans for the November show at the museum include seven or eight performances.

Organizers say this will give businesses the opportunity to book an evening out for their staff that will include a reception, dinner and show - a good time for the audiences and a fundraiser for the club.

Anyone wanting to be involved on the stage, behind the scenes, making costumes, building sets, learning lights and sound is welcomed by BCP. The invitation is open to anyone, anytime.

The first show of the year is Sights Unseen, a comedy with a cast of six men and five women. An English manor house is the inheritance left to lovely young Lady Judith Elliot, along with three stubborn ghosts. A rich American lady not only doesn't object to the "psychic forces," but actually insists on buying the house to prove to the world that they do exist.

Auditions are being held Sunday, June 8 and Monday, June 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the BCP Clubhouse, 102 - 26th St. West in Battleford. The club encourages anyone interested to come out and see whether they fit in the part of a human or a psychic force. Everyone is welcome and no experience is needed.

For those who are interested but unable to make those dates or are interested in a production later in the year, please call 306-446-3133 and leave a message.

Membership in the club is open to everyone with the desire to help produce good live theatre in the Battlefords. Membership has no strings attached; you do what you can when you can. Membership in BCP is all about acting, directing, hosting, building, painting, designing, stage managing, lighting, sound and enjoying the results of the collective, collaborative efforts of all involved to bring the show from the page to the stage.
