Congratulations to retired Reverend George Ward who received recognition for 50 years of service to the United Church of Canada, and, retired Reverend Louise Robson who received recognition for 25 years of service to the United Church of Canada. Congratulations to triathlete Reece Gilbert who has qualified with Team Sask for the Western Canada Summer Games coming up in Swift Current Aug. 9-18. Reece will join fellow Unity athlete, Abby Rutley, who earned a spot on the roster for Team Sask softball.
The rainy weather certainly created some challenges around Unity. The motocross tracks were forced to close June 24 until repairs could be made to the track as a result of excess rain wear and tear on their track’s course.
Remember to always be aware of suspicious or unusual activity in your neighborhoods and town, and report it! Vandalism took place over the June 22 weekend to the memorial gardens created by nurses on the hospital grounds. Some residents have also been reporting either loud groups of individuals late at night, or other mischievous acts about town. It’s up to us to be our community’s eyes and ears and the police won’t know of these incidents if we don’t report them.
Road construction has begun on the end of Main Street replacing those water and sewer lines so some mild traffic inconveniences while this is being done.
Take advantage of the Unity Aquatic Centre during these summer months. You can enjoy aquacizes, public swimming and the occasional special event during the summer months at your local pool. Check the schedule either posted at the pool or on the Town of Unity website, or follow their Facebook page.
