School has now been in session for over a week so students will be once again getting used to the weekly routine. Best wishes to all students for a happy and successful year.
Riding on the Waseca bus for the first time are Hanah Pluhowy and Hunter Lorenz, both beginning students, Aidan Works who is in Grade 1 and his sister, Jasmine, a Grade 3 student. Enjoy your school days.
The playground day sponsored by the recreation board and run by members of the Rivers West Recreation District out of North Battleford, held Aug. 21, was once again well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by young people attending. Activities began at 10 a.m. and ran till 2:30 p.m. The first playground day was held in July and there were more participants this time. Those in charge taught crafts and kept everyone busy with games, both indoors and out. The recreation board served pizza to everyone at noon.
This summer is the first time such activity days have taken place and, judging by the reaction in the community, it is hoped these days will take place again each summer.
Congratulations to Felicia Kelsch and Curtis Sutherland whose wedding took place Sept. 1. The beautiful ceremony took place on the lawn of their present home where an arch had been placed, surrounded by beautiful flowers. Following the afternoon ceremony, a family reception was held at Waseca Hall where lots of visiting took place over delicious food and wedding cake.
Felicia and Curtis are making their home in Waseca.
The village is preparing for its second annual Cultural Day to take place Sept. 27. The day will begin with a pancake breakfast at the community centre where the Waseca Quilters will display some of their work. There will be an official opening of Waseca's new community park and many activities will take place there, weather permitting, including an outdoor movie at 7 p.m.
Everyone will be well fed since hamburgers are to be served at the community centre at noon and beef on a bun at the community park at 5 p.m.
Activities include a bounce house for the children and entertainment by Sprinkles the Clown. Karen Morrison will provide "sparkle" tattoos. An amazing walk with Clear Water Canoeing, a visit to Waseca's heritage church and rides on the village fire truck will be part of the order of the day.
Posters will be up and an order of events sheet will be available that day.
Those in charge will be looking for volunteers and hoping that everyone will have an enjoyable day.
