New executive, board members elected

The annual meeting of the North Battleford Action Now Seniors' Centre was held March 18.

Election of board members and executive took place with Eileen Kerslake replacing Jim Beattie as board member and Yvonne MacPherson relieving Irene Gumming as secretary. Margaret Kemp took over the duties of president from Marcel Lacoursiere, who begins her 14th year as treasurer.

Congratulations and appreciation were extended to all who helped in the past years.

Action Now is a registered, charitable, non-profit organization that was incorporated in the 1980s. It was created with the purpose of managing and administrating the activities, and maintenance of the property and facilities of the organization located at 1501-101st St., North Battleford. Memberships are available for $51 to seniors 60 and over with honourary membership presented to those 85 years and older.

Afternoon activities are held every day at 1:30 p.m. These include Canasta- Monday and Thursday, Bridge Tuesday, Kaiser Wednesday and Cribbage on Fridays. Potluck and catered noon lunches are held every second month honouring those members who are celebrating their birthdays during that time. The next birthday party will be April 10.

An evening Kaiser tournament is held the first Friday of every month at 7:30 p.m. and is open to non-members. Also on April 3 there will be an open Kaiser tournament at 1:30 p.m. and on April 19 an open Cribbage tournament also at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments are served following all activities.

Seniors who do not have transportation can arrange to have the Handi-Bus pick them up and are welcome to join us for great fun and fellowship.
