Neilburg Composite School holds awards day, Part Two

Principal Worman presented the Spirit of Youth Award to Alex Foster.

Brenna Tyler was the winner of several trophies at the NCS awards day.  She received the Credit Union Award for the highest mark in mathematics, as well as the Grade 12 proficiency award and an Access Scholarship of $200.  Tyler also received the Valedictorian Award, which she shared with Ashton Czerniak.  She also accepted the Gross Award, for three-on-three volleyball supremacy with her fellow players, Chase Smith and Mr. Wade Worman.

Principal Worman presented the Spirit of Youth Award to Alex Foster. This is awarded to a Division 4 student who shows leadership ability, a co-operative attitude, good academic standing and who participates socially, academically and athletically in both school and community activities.

Mrs. Kerr-Goodfellow announced the drama awards. Eli Jacquest was the Best Actor with Danyka Hiar as the Best Actress. Dustin Hafner and Dayneeka McCulloch were chosen as the Best Supporting Actor and Actress. The Best Play for the 2011-2012 academic year was Nurses! Foiled Again.

Mr. Volk presented the Dallas Ball Memorial Award for dedication in sports to Quinton Ryan. Volk also presented the Gross Award for 3-on-3 volleyball supremacy to Brenna Tyler. Her teammates were Chase Smith and Mr. Wade Worman.

Mr. Gieni presented the junior volleyball awards for Most Valuable Player to Brandon Ironbow (boys) and Kailee McGarry (girls).

Kelton Bossert was the winner of Most Valuable Player for the senior volleyball awards. The girls' MVP award was shared between Dayneeka McCulloch and Brenna Tyler. Mr. Gieni presented the junior girls' basketball award to Kailee McGarry and Kylie Goodfellow.

Ms. Waldorf presented the Doug Park Track Award, for commitment and dedication to track and field, to Quinton Ryan. The Junior Athlete of the Year was Ethan Moir (boys) and Kailee McGarry (girls). Receiving the Elsie Edwards Memorial Award for Senior Athletes of the Year were Arlee Walde (boys) and Ashlee Goodfellow (girls).

The Deportment Award was presented by Mrs. Kerr-Goodfellow. It was given to Dustin Hafner for 2012. It is presented annually to a student who possesses the ability to get along with teachers and peers and displays a good personality and attitude.

Mrs. Kerr-Goodfellow also presented the Valedictorian Award to Brenna Tyler and Ashton Czerniak.

Alex Foster was the recipient of a $1,000 J. S. Palmer Scholarship. This is given to a student from the Marsden area who is going on to further education. Mrs. Worman presented the ACCESS Centennial Scholarship of $200 to Brenna Tyler. Under the Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship Program, Skyler Bossert was given a $1,000 cheque, known as the Allan Construction Scholarship.

Principal Worman presented the Grade 12s with congratulatory messages from Gerry Ritz, the local Member of Parliament, and the Member of the Legislative Assembly, Larry Doke.

Finally, the last award on the agenda was presented by Principal Worman. Kasey Schmidt received the Outstanding Student of the Year award for her contributions to all activities, both curricular and extra-curricular.
