The elementary students at Neilburg Composite School did a wonderful job selling coupon books this year. They sold a total of 193 books. This is the most the school has ever sold. The proceeds from the fundraiser go toward classroom trips and other classroom extras.
The top seller was Eugene Rathwell, selling a total of 27 books. He picked a Nintendo DS Lite player as his reward. The second place seller was Tristan Ducherer, who sold 21 books. He chose a personal seven-inch DVD player as his prize. Hannah and Jared O'Grady, a sister and brother duo, were the third place sellers. They sold 14 books and received a $50 cash prize. Tied for fourth place were another sibling duo - Eduard and Ethel Borja and four brothers - Jacob, Johnn, Henry and Francie Peters. They got to choose from an assortment of smaller prizes. Twenty-four other names were also drawn and those students also received a small prize.
Lastly were the random draws from all the books sold. There were 23 prize draws during the duration of the sale period, with students selecting a prize from a great assortment of toys, games, etc. A final drawing was made for the final 24 prizes. Winners of the bigger prizes were fourth, Eduard Borja - a toy aircraft carrier; third, Tristan Ducherer - a radio-controlled monster truck; second, Eugene Rathwell - an 8GB MP3 music and video player; and the grand prize went to Shay Brovhchenko who won a Wii and two games.
As well as all these prizes, the top sellers (those who sold four books or more) get to have a pizza party at a later date. The top selling class also got a prize of $60 to use for a party or to buy games or other fun things for their classroom.
Congratulations to Kelsea Heeroma and Jessie McAllister on the birth of their daughter, Gemma May, born Nov. 10. Proud grandparents are Hayo and Marianne Heeroma of Neilburg and Roy and Sherri McAllister of Lloydminster.

The Neilburg School Community Council was able to raise $461.72 to be used for the purchase of school supplies for the children of Kenya.The money was collected at the Harvest Hoedown held in October.
