A new exhibit at Chapel Gallery invites viewers to experience the world “through the eyes” of local students.
The new exhibit comes from work produced as part of a North Battleford Comprehensive High School program. In Gateway to Success, students collaborate with an Indigenous artist.
Students this year collaborated with Alexandra Jarrett of Axis Imagery. Jarrett provided instruction on the basics of photography and editing.
Students were given prompts “and unleashed upon the world to take photos using whatever devices they had at their disposal,” such as phones or digital cameras.
Program participants were Hailey Stone, Nikita Larocque, Savannah Pierre-Weenie, Sadie Goodstriker and Jaelyn Goodstriker.
Some of Stone’s photos included images of North Battleford and downtown Vancouver. Stone said she learned how “to make things pop” in the editing process.
Larocque said she enjoys taking photos while night travelling, and, she adds, taking photos helps with her anxiety.
