The first 2014 meeting of the Maidstone Museum was held at the Maidstone Seniors' Centre Jan. 20 with president Mae Hinde presiding.

Minutes from the last meeting were complied and read by Dorothy Schwartz. Randy Pike gave the financial report for November and December.

Due to other activities in the town the date of the museum Christmas potluck supper and gift exchange changed to Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. at the seniors' centre.

The Mini Snow Fest was also postponed to February as a children's hockey tournament is in town this weekend. Posters announcing a date for this event can be seen in town.

A decision regarding the museum's 25th anniversary to take place this summer was made. The date is to be announced later.

A report was given in regard to an artifact display held at the Pine Island Lodge Jan. 23. Two museum members brought items from the museum and a private collection for display for the enjoyment of the residents. The residents were enthusiastic about this as they could relate to using or owning similar items during their lives. The museum members are pleased to share the artifacts with people unable to come in person to the museum when it is open in the summer months.

The next meeting will be at the seniors' centre Feb. 17.
