Maidstone Museum's Christmas Party was held at the Maidstone Seniors Centre on Jan. 23. The delicious potluck supper commenced at 6 p.m. Bill McGillvary said the blessing on behalf of the 23 people who attended. Following the meal the gift exchange caused lots of laughter and fun. Local cowboy poet Scotty Wiltermuth rendered the Robert Service poem The Cremation of Sam Magee and the Cowboy Christmas Prayer. Allan Hinde showed a video he had taken of a threshing demonstration, antique tractors and a car show he had attended and commented on. This was a was most enjoyable evening for all who attended.Â
A meeting was held Feb. 22 at the home of Mae Hinde. Mostly discussed was the Trade Fair and Silent Auction to be held on April 9 and 10 this year at the Maidstone arena. This is the museum's biggest fundraiser for the year so needs a lot of preparation. Local people and businesses will be asked for donations to the silent auction.Â
