MAIDSTONE — July 16 was a fun day at the Maidstone Museum for children five to 11 years sponsored by the Rivers West Sports, Culture and Recreation Association out of North Battleford.
Two young ladies spent most of the day from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. entertaining the 20 children who attended. Each child brought a bag lunch and drinks were supplied by the local museum.

The Lashburn Museum held a pie bingo on the afternoon of July 16 with more than 30 bingo players in attendance. It was a fundraising event held in the former Snider and Armstrong building, which now houses the local museum.
July 25, Mae Hinde and I were invited to a museum meeting at Bresaylor. The purpose was to assemble the pros of cons on the feasilibity of the museum remaining open and its future. The meeting was capably chaired by curator Velma Foster with 18 people in attendance. Several relatives of the original pioneers in this area travelled many miles to be there.
Each person was given, in turn, a chance to give their views and thoughts on this important decision. The input from this meeting will be reviewed by the board members at a later date.
Canon Michael Stonehouse of Lloydminster was present and is gathering histories of old churches in Saskatchewan and this area.
A bountiful potluck supper was attended by more than 50 people.
A quilt raffle draw was made and won by Joyce Weston of Maidstone. Two $20 gift certificates went to Jean Annemeter of Headingly, Man. and Marla Ramsay of Saskatoon. Two $10 gift certificates went to Lois Pike of Maidstone and Shannon Vaspery.
