This Wednesday afternoon, the Meota Hobby Band will be in performance at the North Battleford Library. Everyone is welcome to attend. The performance starts at 2 p.m. and refreshments will follow the program. If you have not had the chance to hear the Meota Hobby Band, or if you just can't get enough of them, we'll see you there.
Saturday, April 26, St. George's Hall in Battleford will host a St. George's Day Tea and Bake Sale from 2 to 4 p.m. St. George's Day commemorates the life of St. George, a Roman soldier and Christian martyr. Interestingly, in Canada, St. George's Day is a provincial holiday in Newfoundland and Labrador. More interestingly, it is not a holiday in England, which holds St. George as its patron saint.
Saturday, April 26 is Household Hazardous Waste Day. North Battleford residents can safely relieve themselves of unwanted hazards. Beginning at 9 a.m. and running until 4 p.m. at the City of North Battleford Public Works Shop at 11112-6th Ave., you may drop off such items as adhesives, aerosols, batteries, cleaners, corrosives, fuels, mercury, oxidizers, poisons, pharmaceuticals, propane, cylinders and solvents. If you have paint to get rid of, take it to SARCAN. It's no longer accepted at the City's Household Hazardous Waste Day. Other items that won't be accepted include electronics, household smoke detectors, sharps, body fluids, firearm bullets/gunpowder, DEA/Health Canada regulated medicines and commercial/industrial hazardous waste.
