Members honoured with volunteer award

April 1 cards were cancelled as a number of seniors attended the funeral of a former member, Mervin Burgess. Mervin passed away in Pine Island March 28 at the age of 87. Funeral service was held at the Maidstone United Church April 1.

April 1 cards were cancelled as a number of seniors attended the funeral of a former member, Mervin Burgess. Mervin passed away in Pine Island March 28 at the age of 87. Funeral service was held at the Maidstone United Church April 1. He and his wife Lil enjoyed the centre and attended whenever possible.

Bingo was held at the centre on April 3 with Margaret MacEachern and Jean Smith, who recently returned from Arizona, doing the calling. Lunch was provided by Jean Hartman who also won the loonie pot.

The monthly meeting was held on Friday, April 5 with Margaret MacEachern in the chair. The Saskatchewan Seniors Fitness Association will be at the centre April 23 and we are asked to serve noon lunch. This was discussed and chili-on-a-bun was organized. The March-April birthday pot luck noon meal will be held on Friday, April 19 at noon.

The volunteer awards night will be held at the Legion Hall April 18 starting with an evening meal. Jean and Ray Hartman, senior centre members, are to be given this award that evening. Congratulations Jean and Ray for being chosen for this award. Purposed change to the constitution and an update are to be discussed by a group of seniors at a later date. Following the meeting lunch was served by Margaret MacEachern.

The annual meeting was held in conjunction with the monthly meeting and positions were filled with few changes made.

Cribbage was played at the centre April 8. High score went to Bev Stewart and low to Laurence Den-Ouden. Lunch was served by Bev Stewart.

Bingo was played April 10 with Joan Smith and Margaret MacEachern doing the calling. Lunch was provided by Bev Stewart and Dorothy Harmel. A special meeting was held following bingo regarding update of the constitution.
