Members earn long service pins

On April 13 several members of the Notre Dame CWL attended the Dioceson CWL convention in Paradise Hill.

April 28 a pro-life banquet was held at St. Joseph's Church Hall with a few of Notre Dame's members attending. This year's guest speaker, Dr. Theresa Burke, spoke about Rachael's Vineyard dealing with abortion issues and how they affect individuals and their families.

At the 11 a.m. mass at Notre Dame Church April 28, five CWL members received service pins. Marguerite Kovalsky received a pin for 50 years of service, Mary Wappel and Barbara Sanders for 40 years of service, Rose McDonald for 25 years, and Betty Znack and Margret Ruda for 10 years.

At the May 8 monthly meeting guest speaker Hannah McTaggert from the Boys and Girls Club explained the different programs offered there for young people. When completed, the new two-storey facility will include, among the many features, a multipurpose room for activities, a large servery that will offer snacks and teach cooking, a computer- homework room (with staff assisting where needed). Club members are taken for various outings and even have a hockey league.

This is an international program in Canada and the United States. The North Battleford club has been operating for more than 30 years and is unique in that it's open seven days a week. The Notre Dame council had made a donation to the club.

Council members bought candles to support the National Pro-Life March for Life held in Ottawa May 9 against abortion and female genocide.Several members will be attending the provincial CWL Convention on June 3 and 4 in Saskatoon at the Holy Family Cathedral.

July fun day this year will be attending a matinee showing of Salt Water Moon in Rosthern July 17. The national CWL convention will be held in Regina Aug. 11-14.
