Meewasinota Craft and Trade show hosted July 6

What an informative and interesting article regarding the new fire hall in Meota. People always have questions and now the answers are there.

What an informative and interesting article regarding the new fire hall in Meota. People always have questions and now the answers are there. No debating about where, any more, the action has started and footings will soon be poured, the rafters are on site, it is all very exciting. Only those who have been on councils or worked with this type of construction, can appreciate the time and work involved with getting the project going, and working with three different councils is really an undertaking. So many choices to try to keep the rising costs of today as low as possible, we have to appreciate what these folks are accomplishing.

The contract bridge winners June 23 were Joyce Antoine and Warren Iverson.

In duplicate bridge June 24, top couple were Ben Novlan and Joe Pirot, second were Margaret Dyck and Ross Morton.

Ken Tucker enjoyed his 88th birthday celebration when his family held a barbecue on the patio at Towers II, with family and friends attending June 26. It was one of those rare perfect evenings that we have had few of so far this summer. Congratulations, Ken.

The 31st annual Meewasinota Craft and Trade Show held in Meota Community Hall is slated for July 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To book a table call Jacquie at 306-892-2277.

Driving home from Alberta the water was laying everywhere in the Marsden/Nielburg areas. All yards and roads were soaked. The fields had big ponds where there should not be any.

Meadow Lake, too, has had excess rain - 103 millimetres of rain in June, more than twice the usual amount. Just west of Marsden we were held up with an accident - a half-ton had gone over the railing in the coulee and they had to extract the fellow from the pick-up, way down in the bottom. Took quite an effort to get him up to the ambulance that was gone before traffic started moving again, over two hours later.

The hummingbird feeders may not be quite as busy now that there are so many flowers everywhere around town. How cheerful and bright the town has become over the last month. The gardens are also coming along nicely. And no one should complain about the heat after all the cold we've suffered this spring!

The Meota Lions' Chorus entertained at Edam Lady Minto Health Care Center for the June birthday party June 23. It was enjoyed by those entertaining and by those who listened with smiles and toe tapping, for the old songs of yesteryear.

Linda Ard attended the graduation exercises held at the H.Hardcastle School, in Edam June 27, to watch her great-great niece, Keinyn Nordell take home seven awards. It was an exciting event as many awards were handed out, some with monetary gifts included. Saturday Linda and I and Gramma Clare Shepherd drove to the open house, at the home of Keinyn's parents, Carrie and Darren Nordell, in Edam. Grandparents Elaine and Garry Poole and great-grandparents Maisie and Frank Poole also attended, as well as many family friends. It was a nice afternoon, and sunny enough folks could be outside.

July 4 there will be Kaiser at 2 p.m. and canasta that evening at 7 p.m. in the Do Drop In. Everyone is welcome. They had a great time last week with guests from Mervin and the city, joining the locals.

Every 10 years they hold a community reunion at Makwa, this year it is being held on Aug. 1-3. This is chaired by Gerald Regnier and if interested phone him at 306-236-6967. They try to track down all former residents, but may have missed someone.

Ken and Anna Tucker from North Battleford accompanied their son Gary and Karen to Warman to meet their new great-granddaughter Kimlee Anna, who was born to Daren and Meghan Tucker June 4. Many pictures were taken of the four generations. Kimlee's other grandparents are Paul and Pauline Fayers of Martinson's Beach.

Lawrie and Shirley Ward enjoyed company recently when their children visited. Their son Lloyd came from Edam and his friend Barbara from North Battleford and two step daughters, Jamie and Abbie, from Waseca. Their daughter Michelle and Jamie Kidd, came from Saskatoon with daughter Casey and son Jasper. The Kidds picked up their camper so they could use it on a trip to Regina for a sporting event.
