Yep, it must be harvest time! Combines were lifting the dust everywhere until Saturday when the dreaded word, rain, appeared. According to the rain gauge in our yard we received 30.2 mls – one and a quarter inches – between Saturday afternoon and Sunday evening. Campers who were hoping to have their last summer weekend at the lake weren’t too impressed either.
This is the weekend Meeting Lake Regional Park officially closes for the season. To celebrate the summer, the park held a turkey and all the trimmings supper Sept. 5 at the round hall. Several people took in the event, enjoying good food and good fellowship.
Saturday night Tilly and the Billy Goat entertained at the Rabbit Lake Hotel. Apparently this was a popular event as Joan was searching out additional chairs already in the afternoon.

Five young adults, Janelle Martens, Brett Martens, Tyler Martens, Gwendolyn Laughlin and Marijane Martens were baptized by Pastor Chad Doell at Hoffnungsfelder Mennonite Church at Rabbit Lake, Sept. 6. Although the church is not used on a weekly basis it was gratifying to have it filled to over capacity for the event. Guests came from quite a distance, especially Rosthern Junior College kids, to share the day with the candidates.
