Car Mel Country entertained on the weekend at Radisson for their jamboree. Performing were Mel Deagnon, Tom Caldwell, Vern Hoknes, Ernie Degenhardt and Bert Carpentier. The boys looked sharp dressed in their white shirts, black pants and hats. It's always nice to see a class act. Great performance, boys.

Betty Greenslade Brogden wrote in to say "Congrats to my son Ashton. He did his five parachuting jumps," two Monday, one Tuesday. He "was supposed to jump out of a Hercules but while it was being used by the regular forces it ingested a bird so it had to be grounded. They had supper then they were told to get some sleep as they were doing a night jump at 1:00 am (Wednesday) Ontario time, then they had to stay up the rest of the night and do their 5th jump with no sleep. He said it was amazing parachuting. So he is classified as 'AIRBORNE.' He has his grad parade and graduation on Friday and then will be home on Saturday evening."

Several Maymont residents attended the 25th wedding anniversary of Cheryl and Kolin Bulmer. The supper was superb. After supper there was music and much catching up of family and friends. Thank you, Cheryl and Kolin. It was a great evening, and happy 25th.

Congratulations to George and Gladys Brehon who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Aug. 14.

Those Were The Days - yes, they were. Just ask some of our Maymont boys who drove some of the old tractors in the Parade of Power. I'm sure some of the tractors were older than the fellows driving them, such as Glen and Neil Milman.

Maymont Legends of Country 3 - mark your calendars, Oct. 6. Are these some of your favourite artists - Gene Watson, Everly Brothers, Waylon, Johnny Reid, Wynonna Judd? If so, these are some of the artists, our performers will be performing. We are working on our backup band and one more performer. More info to follow and posters will be up in early September. Your ticket stub will be put you into a draw for a one-night stay at the Sheraton Cavalier, Saskatoon.

For anyone interested, Maymont Prairie Pups Playschool is currently looking for a playschool teacher for the 2012-13 school year. They are looking for an energetic, fun loving person to provide a structure in which a play-oriented environment encourages each child to attain greater independence and acquire social skills and self-confidence. Early childhood education and development training are desirable, but not necessary. The position is for one morning a week from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon, from late September to May. For more details, please contact Jackie Caldwell at 389-4748 or Kim Voegeli at 389-4303 by Aug. 31.

Great parade, North Battleford.
