MAYFAIR — Chitek Lake citizens are delighted to have a small grocery and concession store again. The new outlet opened shortly before Christmas after the former outlet had been closed since October. The store is located at Little Pine Resort, three blocks away from the former grocery outlet. Many outdoor enthusiasts patronize this business even during the winter. Ice fishing is popular, as are snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and skating on the lake ice. There is a warm-up shack on a well-groomed snowmobile trail nestled in the tall whispering pine and spruce trees.
Eighty-seven-year-old Clifford Smith, formerly of Rabbit Lake, recently passed away. His son Charlie farms in the area. Clifford lived in a seniors’ care home in North Battleford before his passing. Condolences to the Smith family.
