Hi there again! It's so hard to believe May has gone by so quickly. May 31 was one of our nicest days, though. It was just beautiful, so sunny and warm. I do hope some of you got out to enjoy that sunshine. And looking out now the grass and trees are so lovely and green, so hopefully June will bring the flowers blooming and the gardens growing. It will be so nice to have fresh vegetables again.
Some of our tenants have either been visiting or having company recently.
On the weekend of May 3 and 4, Mary Dearborn was happy to travel to Humboldt with her daughter Norma Combres to attend her granddaughter Taylor Stelzer's dance festival. Mary said the costumes were so beautiful. They stayed with Kurt, Carrie and family.
On Mother's Day, Mary was delighted to be taken out by her son and daughter-in-law Blair and Anna for breakfast.
In the afternoon her son and daughter-in-law Garry and Elaine came to visit and take her out for supper. She also got phone calls from her son from La Ronge and her daughter Norma. You did have a wonderful Mother's Day, Mary.
Theresa Berton and her niece went out to British Columbia for three weeks to visit their relatives. I'm sure you had a wonderful time, Theresa.
Edith Lockhart was so glad to attend her great granddaughters graduation in Paradise Hill in May. I can imagine you and all her family would be very proud of her.
Hilda Lessing was pleased to have her daughter from California visiting with her for awhile. It would be very nice to get together, Hilda, and catch up on all your news.
We had our April and May birthday party May 19. Congratulations go out to all those who had birthdays those months. They were in April: Ernest Wawryk, George Milnthorp, Alpha Schmirler, Bev McCrimmon, Hilda Lessing, Margaret Jimmy, Thelma Kendall and Eric Haubold. In May there were: Theresa Berton, Edith Lockhart, Bernice Laughton, Shirley Williams and Bep Wyatt.
The first part of the evening all joined in to have a fun game of Kaiser bingo. Then we all enjoyed some delicious birthday cake and ice cream.
One afternoon we were favoured to have people from the Philips Lifeline come and inform us of their cordless phone services. We had a good turnout in the lounge to hear the importance of seniors having access to immediate help if we fall or if something drastic happens to us. Several of the seniors have them here, myself as well. It does make everyone feel more secure.
We also got a visit from some knowledgeable people about the ambulance services. I'm sure this was very interesting, but I was away at the time so wasn't able to attend.
We always welcome groups that come in to our Tower to inform us about different subjects or projects of interest.
We had a garage sale here May 30 and 31. Donuts and coffee were sold and tickets for a raffle of several things. Here are the lucky winners: Murray McCrimmon, Clyde Dewar, Lynn Hawl, Betty Moore, Mary Dearborn, Judy Remple, Bev Bobryk and Mary Birch Congratulations to you all.
We always think of those either who are in the hospital from here or are just not feeling good. Our get well wishes go out to you all.
There are several tenants coming and going from here quite often. So we hope you have now a nice place to make your home. We do miss you all.
That's all for now folks and I hope we have a nice sunny June!
