Fundraising continues for Paynton's spaceship flower garden project. Plans are for a crop circle inspired flower bed and sculpture garden.

Fall weather has accompanied the very beginning of this September, reminding us of what is to come. Trees are starting to turn and with the changing seasons, comes the end of summer markets.

Some have already closed up for the year, but Paynton Farmers' Market Co-op will continue to run until the end of September, weather permitting. The time is now to get your fresh garden vegetables, farm eggs picked fresh daily and local honey before the end of harvest season. Every Tuesday until the end of the month you can also find art, ceramics and lots of fresh bread, jams and baking at Paynton arena from 4 - 6 p.m.

Nov. 24 will be this year's annual Christmas Craft Sale at the Paynton Gym from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a delicious lunch by the library ladies. PFM also plans to host an old time jamboree in the near future and will keep you informed as to when it is.

As one business is winding down, a new one is winding up. Aaron Anderson has purchased and renovated the old school house in Paynton and has opened Prairie Angel Tattoo. An open house is being held Sept. 22 from noon to 5 p.m. at 201 Railway Ave. in Paynton. As well as a tattooist, Aaron is a trained artist. Come by the open house for a chance to view many of Aaron's fine art pieces which will be on display throughout the building.

Paynton volunteers have been working on the spaceship flowerbed project this summer. Money has been raised selling frozen pizzas along with a portion paid by what used to be known as the TIP grant. Started last year, this project is expected to take at least one more year to complete the fundraising and material collection for the crop circle inspired flower bed and sculpture garden.

Payton's spaceship sculpture was donated to the village in 2010 by Reartcycle when the Alien Invasion symposium came to town. Village residents are eager to see the project completed. To volunteer time, money or materials, come by the library or farmers' market or call 895-4225 for more information.
