The newest exhibition in the main salon of the Chapel Gallery is by an artist who was born in Saskatoon and went on to become an Official War Artist during the Second World War.
In 1949, Campbell Tinning went to Newfoundland and created a number of paintings to capture the life he found there. Newfoundland had just joined Confederation and he was intrigued by the activity and natural beauty of the area.
The Chapel Gallery has the honour of being only the second gallery to host this exhibition by Campbell Tinning. The pieces show Tinning's perceptions of the maritime landscape as seen through the eyes of someone who grew up on the Prairies.
"The Newfoundland Paintings" is on until Feb. 28.
