The monthly meeting followed with Sharon Ruud as chairperson. The next Movie Nite is set for Friday, Jan. 18 with Polar Express to be shown. Final arrangements for the Christmas supper and entertainment were discussed. Reports were made on the different donations and fundraisers done to replace money for the new roof on the centre. Next meeting is Jan. 9 at 2:45 p.m.

Friday at 5:30 p.m. was the annual Christmas supper. To welcome the 77 seniors who attended was Vera Hintz assisted by Sharon Ruud. The evening began with singing. Denise Newton MCed the evening and introduced Mayor Becotte and, in lieu of the reeve of Eldon, Carole Stoughton brought good wishes of the season. An extremely delicious supper was supplied and served by the Catholic Ladies Altar Society. A special door prize was donated by Dorothy Harmel and won by Marie Hartman. Following supper, entertainment was supplied by Scott Owens on piano and guitar and his wife MT and her sister Kathleen Wallis singing songs from the Second World War. A number of small prizes donated by Dorothy Schwartz were drawn for. Winners were John McCaskill, Keith Stoughton, June Franks, Carolyn Donavon, Esther Jesse, Eleanor and Allan Hinde, Frances Petterson, Caroline Smith, Ethel Harmel, Kay Carson and Scott Hickling. Raffle tickets that were sold previously to raise money for a new roof for the centre were drawn for – all for gift certificates at AG Foods – $100 won by Wayne Stirling, $50 won by Bill McGilvery and $25 won by Elaine Stewart of Saskatoon. This most successful raffle raised $1,500 for the centre. The evening closed with the singing of carols with Vince Gerlinsky on his keyboard. Oranges and Christmas cake were available to all before going home from a most enjoyable evening. Thank you to all the behind-the-scenes individuals who decorated, donated and organized our annual Christmas party.
