Hi there! Well it doesn't feel like we have spring yet folks. We still have those cold winds. Anyway we are supposed to have warmer days ahead. I hope that isn't an April Fool's joke.
However, the weather hasn't really impacted any of our activities here in the tower.
We had a shuffleboard tournament for two days in March. There were seven teams entered. First prize went to Rose Marie Rolheiser and Mary Dearborn and in second place were Ruby Hrabia and Louise Haubold. Congratulations to you all. Thank you to Harry Smith who looked after the tournament.
A nice lunch at noon of soup, buns with salmon and egg fillings and dessert was served by Ida and her helpers. Thank you, ladies.
We enjoyed some tasty Chinese food on the 7th of March and then were very glad to have the "Three Gents" entertain us afterwards.
Another evening we had John and his friends come and provide us with their great singing and instrumental music. We are so lucky to have such musical talent in our area.
Ann Ewanchuk has some news for us again. On Feb. 18 she lost her best friend, Sister Nel in Vancouver, B.C. Sadly her mother and father passed away in the same month of February. Ann keeps busy attending her church ladie' perogie, babka, and paska making bees.
She is grateful to her son Orest and granddaughter Daniele Scherger for driving her to Saskatoon for a doctor's appointment. She also appreciated Erinka and son-in-law Rory for driving her to attend the two last hockey games of the North Stars.
Ann was pleased to visit her cousin Annie Bartkewich on her 97th birthday. They reminisced of the years gone by.
Funerals are never a pleasure to talk about but Ann was very happy to see Olga Bychol's (deceased) daughter-in-law Donna, whom Ann knew as a baby. Ann supports the Access Children's Wish Foundation and helps at the various activities in the high rise.
We are glad to see Ada Pasutto home again from Vernon, B.C. On March 22, her daugher Joy and Dutch flew to British Columbia and stayed a few days then Ada flew back to Edmonton with them. She says,"it beats driving back two days in a car." I agree, Ada.
Murray and Bev McCrimmon travelled to Meadow Lake to visit Murray's family awhile ago. I'm sure you had a good time together folks.
We are so glad to see that Mildred Kleiv is back here after breaking her hip recently. We hope that you recover quickly, Mildred.
Get well wishes go out to all those tenants who are recovering from some illness or have been in the hospital. Take care, everyone.
Welcome to all newcomers. We have had quite a few new people move in recently. Hope you will join us in some of the activities here in the high rise.
It will soon be Easter so I wish you a happy one with your family and friends.
Hope I can announce better weather in my next report.
