Looking forward to long, warm fall this year

Hi there! It's hard to believe our summer is nearly over and here it is September again. We have had some lovely warm days especially in August.

Hi there! It's hard to believe our summer is nearly over and here it is September again. We have had some lovely warm days especially in August. The scenery has been beautiful around here, too, so lush and green as well as the flowers everywhere have been so lovely. So here's hoping for a nice fall, too.

Our news will have to go back to July as some of our residents were going away or having company.

July 5, we were happy to have John Archer and friends to entertain us with their fine music and singing.

Julu 10, Bev and Murray McCrimmon organized a bus tour for several of us to Frenchman Butte Heritage Centre. We so enjoyed having tour guides showing us through their museums. Their artifacts reflected the vast history of the area. The late Lloyd Furman spent many years upon his collection of guns and arrowheads.

The ladies at the Log Cabin Tea House provided a delicious lunch for us before we left for St. Walburg, while there we visited the Imhoff Art Gallery and Museum. Even if one has seen it before, it's always inspiring and fascinating to see such beautiful biblical paintings. After having supper at a local cafe, we all agreed we had a great day. Thanks to Bev and Murray.

June 29 and 30, Ida Baker went to Biggar for a rural Lutheran church 100th anniversary and June 30th celebrated Biggar's Church's 50th anniversary. Ida stayed with her sister and had a very interesting two days.

July 6, Shirley Tebay attended the wedding of her grandson Brennan Tebay and Chelsey McConnell at the museum. A supper and dance followed. On Sunday there was a gift opening and noon brunch. I'm sure you all had a wonderful time, Shirley.

Aug. 4, Shirley visited at Metinota when her son Dennis held his annual fish fry and potluck supper. Several family members were present.

Aug. 25, her family gathered at Dennis and Juliette's home to celebrate the sixth birthday of granddaughter Maddie (Shirley's great-granddaughter). They all had a delicious supper and enjoyed an ice cream birthday cake.

Eating again, folks! July 12, we sat down in the lounge to a tasty potluck supper. There's a wealth of good cooks in here, so everyone enjoyed someone else's food.

July 19, we had a barbecue in the lounge. Thank you to Larry, who looked after the barbecue for us. The hamburgers were so good. He did a great job. Also thank you to Pat for all her help. The Country Cousins provided us with some lively music that kept our toes tapping.

We always look forward to the Second to None catered suppers. We had one Aug. 16. Most of us are so glad to have a change from our own cooking.

Aug. 30, we ordered Chinese food from Moon's Kitchen and enjoyed it in the lounge. I did say we really enjoy our food here in Tower II, folks.

Barbara Foot and her sister journeyed to Mississippi to visit their nephew. I'm sure you would both have a wonderful visit.

Congratulations to Cecile Dupuis on the birth of a brand new great-granddaughter born in Port Albernie, B.C. They travelled out here to the farm where about 59 family and relatives gathered. You must have had a lovely reunion and visit, Cecile.

Ernie Wawryk enjoyed a family reunion in Medicine Hat, Alta. He said out of 12 of the family only three are left.

Phyllis Bec was delighted to attend the graduation of a great-grandson and great-granddaughter at the North Battleford Comprehensive High School. It would be a wonderful occasion, Phyllis.

I've had a nice summer, so far, too. My son's daughter was married in Saskatoon Aug. 3. It was such a beautiful day, they had the ceremony and reception outside. My granddaughter made a lovely bride, of course, and the groom looked very handsome, too. Family and friends wished them well and we all had a great visit.

I also spent time out at the lake at my granddaughters' cabins. The weather was so nice that everyone had a good time.

Ada Pasutto spent most of the month of August visiting with her three daughters, Marina, Carol and Joy, at their homes. The lake weather was always beautiful. Ada also had Biondo's brother Oscar and his wife Bertilla from Italy visiting her. Carol also dropped in and they all enjoyed an afternoon coffee and lunch. Ada also motored to Kindersley Sept. 2 with daughter Joy to watch her grandson Rylan play an exhibition game with North Battleford.

We were so saddened to hear of Vivian Bertsche's death. She had been in the hospital for several weeks. Vivian was one of the first residents to move into Tower II in 1981. We will all miss her very much.

Helen Blackstock has moved to a group home in Saskatoon. We wish her well.

Also, get well wishes go out to other residents who are having a difficult time getting around. It's too bad there aren't more places available for seniors in that situation.

Hopefully the weather will keep nice so the farmers can get their harvesting done. Good luck to you all.
