Lodge takes a summer break

June 10 was the last St. Walburg Royal Purple meeting before the summer break. This was also Decoration Day, but due to a wet, dreary day, members were unable to visit the graves of departed Royal Purple members. However, this will be done as soon as the weather co-operates. Some members had gone previously to the four distant cemeteries and a remembrance prayer was said that evening for those who are not buried in the area.

Several ladies took cheese, crackers and fruit to Lakeland Lodge for Royal Purple Day. We also provided the last seniors' dinner before the break for free and this is also part of Royal Purple Day. Seniors' dinners will begin again Sept. 12 and every second week thereafter.

At this time a speedy recovery is wished to Valentina Hritzuk who has gone through knee surgery. Also we extend a happy birthday to the lady who turns 90 years young in June and will celebrate with a come and go tea.

Lin Hallet and Betty Malanchuk also celebrate June birthdays and Mearle Knight in July. Sympathy from the lodge to Yvonne Beeching who had recently lost her husband.

The flower pots at the hall entrance have been brightened up with pansies.

Blueberry Festival Dinner Talent Night Aug. 24 is being planned. A reminder that advance tickets are necessary and will be available shortly for pick up at Tru Hardware 306 248-3353.

We will be entering a float in the local fair and contributing towards the pancake breakfast. It was voted to give the curling club $300 to have advertising put in the ice for the coming winter season.

Dorothea Hocher is now officially district deputy for District 6.

The next regular monthly meeting will be Sept 9.

Members wish everyone a safe summer with lots of good weather to enjoy the outdoors.
