It was back to school Monday for students. We hope you all enjoyed the winter break. It isn't long till Easter, the next school holiday.
Best wishes to Eva Sutherland of Pine Island Lodge, Maidstone who celebrates her 92nd birthday Feb. 28. Her family took her out to dinner Sunday when they were all able to celebrate a noon meal with her.
Eva continues to enjoy good health and keeps everyone in line with her sharp wit, which we all enjoy.
Waseca along with all other places, keeps the snow plow busy removing snow from the streets. Snow banks along the sides of the streets and snow piles in various places are growing. According to some forecasts, we are due to see more heavy snowfalls in March. Time will tell but one has to think of what may happen when the spring thaw sets in.
Eaton's stores have become a shopping outlet of the past, but did you know that just as the Internet has become the modern age shopping outlet, the Eaton catalogue pioneered a new way of shopping? It was first printed in Toronto in 1884 and was distributed at Toronto's Industrial Exhibition. Settlers who never saw a shop window could order almost anything from this large book. Its arrival in country homes caused great excitement. I remember it well!
