The Scotiabank hockey program offers sponsorship to minor hockey teams across the country. Over 3,000 teams across Canada are sponsored each year. Each team within the program has the opportunity to win a chance to introduce the most famous weekly hockey show, CBC's Hockey Night in Canada.

Kraten Beaudoin's team, the Atom Bisons from North Battleford, were one of the teams chosen through a random drawing of all sponsored teams to appear on Scotiabank's Hockey Tonight, the kids' pregame show, March 23. Way to go, guys. The time will be 4:30 to 5 p.m. Be sure to watch. The Bird family gave the boys matching Bison hoodies and caps; they look really sharp. The coaches are Brent Holhoyi and Rockey Omelchenko.

Reverend Debbie Ramage, Anglican minister, was guest speaker at the World Day of Prayer service, March 1, at the Maymont Seniors' Centre. This year's service was written by women from France.

Reverend Ramage spoke on the theme, "I was a stranger and you welcomed me." Thanks to the United, Lutheran and Anglican ladies who took part in the service. A collection of $59 was received.

The event was followed by a social hour hosted by the Anglican ladies.

World Day of Prayer was begun by women in Canada and the United States in 1922 and is observed in more than 170 countries today. By participating in this year's World Day of Prayer service, you are joining in worship with Christians around the world and in more than 2,000 communities across Canada.

The World Day of Prayer is facilitated by the World Day of Prayer International committee, which meets once every five years to select the themes and countries for upcoming services. The World Day of Prayer 2014 service will be written by the women of Egypt on the theme "Streams in the Desert."

Your support of the World Day of Prayer movement is greatly appreciated. The resources, such as worship booklets, leadership guides, posters and brochures are provided to co-ordinating committees at no cost by WICC. The offerings received at each World Day of Prayer service in Canada are forwarded to the national office of WICC. A portion of the offerings received each year is used to prepare and provide resources to local co-ordinating committees and participants for the following year.

Important dates to remember: March 21 - Ruddell potluck and bingo at 6 p.m.; March 25 - Maymont stew, biscuits and entertainment at 6 p.m.
