A grassfire broke out near where a SaskPower crew was working in the Maymont district May 12.

For those who read in one of my earlier articles, in November 2011, about Karen Fertuck (Hultman) going to Edmonton to receive a liver transplant, here is an update sent in by Connie Gunness.

A couple of dates that Karen had been given came and went, once when she and her adopted son Clayton (who tested as a perfect match) were on stretchers, hooked up to IVs and headed down the hall to the operating room only to be bumped again. Finally they had their surgeries April 11 with the doctors taking 60 per cent of Clayton's liver for his mom. Things went fantastic and both are recovering daily.

Karen felt better immediately as she had been sick for so long that every little thing was a great improvement for her. Clayton of course felt like he had just gone through major surgery and is taking a while to recover. He had to stay close to the doctors in Edmonton for longer than expected as he ended up with some infection problems, but has since left the Edmonton area and is coming along great.

Karen and her sisters are still in Edmonton and will be for at least another month or so, but she is improving so fast that her doctors are amazed by her progress. Thanks once again for all who contributed to this very worthy cause. And thank you once again, Carol, for all your hard work.

Happy birthday to Maymont May birthday people - sorry if some are belated - Terry and Jerry Skopic, Dale Beaudion, Pat Beaudion, Kayla Gray, Bonnie Milman and Debbie Penner.

There was a fire near Maymont May 12. SaskPower was working on taking out some power lines and somehow a fire started. For anyone who smelled smoke or saw smoke, that would be the reason.

Bonnie Milman travelled to Edmonton to join her daughter Denise and husband Barry Gabruch and family to celebrate her twin grandchildren's, Carson's and Selina's, 18th birthday. We also would like to wish Bonnie a happy birthday May 21.

We will be having our annual garage sale June 16 at the Maymont Hall. Anyone wishing to book a table for $15, please call Jay at 389-4847. If anyone has any donations they would like to give to the hall to sell, they can contact Jay or Mel at 389-2440. Look for more information in the next issue. To follow, we will be having a potluck and jam session.
