The Village of Borden will be having an election for village aldermen with five candidates running for four positions - incumbents Ian Tracksell, Janie Branderick and Terry Tkazcyk along with Frank Silcox and Tom Redhead.

The Village of Borden will be having an election for village aldermen with five candidates running for four positions - incumbents Ian Tracksell, Janie Branderick and Terry Tkazcyk along with Frank Silcox and Tom Redhead. Mayor David Buckingham got in by acclamation.

For the RM of Great Bend No. 405, Reeve Ron Saunders was returned by acclamation along with Kim Maxwell in Division 3. Running in Division 1 to replace Murray Assman are Lance Walker, Greg Orchard and Elizabeth Torrens and, in Division 5, to replace Ron Bezugly are Ian Hosegood and Colin Elliot. Advance polls are Oct. 17 in the village/RM office and election day is Oct. 24, in the community centre.

In Radisson there is a three-way race for mayor with Walter Kyliuk stepping down - Don Tanner, Leona Bennett and Surendran Chetty. There are nine running for council with six positions open, including three incumbents - Michelle Nelson, Mark Kizyma and Darren Harris. Others running are Marlene Wenner, Marion Fehr-Stead, Jolene Renas, Bella Armitstead, Denise Geroux and David Summers. The advance poll Oct. 17 and the election Oct. 24 are both in the town office.

At the Radisson fundraiser hot dog sale held to raise money for a new fire truck, $785 was raised, thanks to all those who came out and supported it.

There will be a drop-in flu clinic Oct. 25 from 3-7 p.m. in the Borden School, for Borden and Radisson residents.

Condolences to family and friends of Vera Nelson, who passed away Sept. 16 at the age of 67. The service was held at Medstead Bethel Lutheran Church Sept. 21, with Rev. Pat Simonson presiding. Some from Borden attended. Vera had lived in Borden for 14 years and there was a memorial tea in her honour Sept. 25 in the Borden Seniors' Room for those unable to attend the Medstead service.

The Langham senior citizens' home held a raffle and raised $3,800 to buy a new entertainment system to improve the quality of life for the residents. Administrator Conrad Jantzen stated the home is very grateful to the community and area for their support over the years for all their fundraising efforts. They have purchased a new generator, had the roof re-shingled and the town has replaced the sidewalks for guests that come to visit and so residents can go for walks. Winners of the raffle prizes drawn Sept. 12 were Mildred Pearce, Craig Kutcher-D. Martin, Ed and Adeline Palchiniski, Trish Berg and ten $20 Tim's cards went to Meghan Kary, Harvey Olfert, Tony, Candace, Gerald & Carol Wurtz, Audrey Baker, Diane Kowalenko, Joey Yerex and Delphine Provost.
