An open house held Oct. 24 during Saskatchewan Library week at the Speers Library was well attended. Door prizes were won by Kathleen Kivol and Marion Wohlberg for adults. Children's prizes (ages six to 12) were won by Neisha Baptist, Nadia Baptist and Jorda Thomas. The five and under prize was won by Nadia Baptist.

A Happy Halloween Party was held at the Speers Library Oct. 26 for preschool children. They all came in costume and watched a puppet show. They sang songs with Happy the Clown, did crafts, coloured and enjoyed story time with Happy. Mothers and volunteers enjoyed the array of costumes and the activities. Snacks were given to end the "happy morning."

Phyllis Cunningham entered the Saskatchewan Library Week My Favourite Book Contest. Her favourite book is Grandpa's Place. She was pleased to hear her poem read on CBC Afternoon Edition Oct. 27.

The summer reading program "Splash" windup was held in the Speers Library Aug. 25 with approximately 20 children, ages two to 14 years attending. Megan Jones did face painting. Joan Jackson helped with the activities which were crafts, storytelling contests and games. Cupcakes and juice were supplied by librarian Colleen Wicks.

Speers turkey shoot will be held sometime in November. Watch for posters.
