The recent snowfall may have some people singing, "It's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you."
Feb. 12, they'll be singing "Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up, let's go," as the fourth annual Cutter Rally comes to the Battlefords.
The event, hosted by North West Horses in Harness, features a 90 minute ride in the river valley, a poker rally, supper and prizes.
Last year, the Cutter Rally raised $11,000, with the proceeds going to the walking trail in Fort Battleford.
"This year, we're hoping to do even better," said co-ordinator Ed Loewen.
The cost for participating in the entire event is $30, which includes supper. Passengers don't have to pay, unless they would like to purchase a ghost hand for $10, which would also give them a chance to win prizes. The supper costs $10.
The Town of Battleford is clearing a trail in the river valley along Levy Road and Mayor Chris Odishaw will be speaking prior to the supper, which will be held at Fort Battleford.
To pre-register, call Ed Loewen at 937-7317, Jim Schmidt at 446-0407 or Ken Schwab at 445-2660. Anyone registered by Feb. 4 will be entered in a prize draw.
Registration is also available the day of the event, Feb. 12, starting at 11 a.m. at the Fort Battleford administration building. The Rally commences at 1 p.m. and supper will be held at 5:30 p.m.
Loewen said he enjoys taking his grandchildren out every year. It's an event the whole family looks forward to.
"All our family have horses, so it's not new or anything, but they enjoy it," he said.
