Leoville flautist nominated for award

Jason Chamakese of Leoville is one of eight Saskatchewan artists to receive a nomination for the 2011 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards.

Jason Chamakese of Leoville is one of eight Saskatchewan artists to receive a nomination for the 2011 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards.

Chamakese was nominated in the category of Best Traditional Flute for his latest album, Native American Flute Songs Vol. 2. His first album, Midnight at Clearwater, was nominated in 2008 for an Aboriginal People's Choice Music Award and for the 2008 Canadian Aboriginal Music awards.

Saskatchewan artists have been nominated in eight of 17 categories.

The 13th annual Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards will be held in conjunction with the Canadian Aboriginal Festival, which takes place Nov. 17-20 in Toronto.
