The Edam Legion Branch No. 106 annual poster, poem and essay contest winners were given their awards Dec. 18, 2014, at H. Hardcastle School. Legion members Judy Carignan and Huguette MacGregor were on hand to give the awards out.

This year’s winners were: Grade 1, 2 and 3 – colour poster, first Aleesa Sharp, second Mia Weber; black and white poster, first Mia Weber, second Zoey Pollard; Grade 4, 5 and 6 – coloured poster, first Adriana Burgess, second Mathew Walker; black and white poster, first Abbey Harty, second Nadian Holloway; essay; first Trayton Troesch, second Carston Day; poem, first Dawson Sitter, second Adriana Burgess; Grade 7, 8 and 9 – colour poster, first Candace Greening, second Tiana Olson; black and white poster, first Macey Levasseur, second Blake Blais; essay, first Jaxon Harty, second Danika Holloway; poem, first Macey Levasseur, second Blaize Courtenay; Grade 10, 11 and 12 colour poster, first Brittany Nedelec, second Zachary Curry; black and white poster, first Kieran McConnell, second Jared Greening; essay, first Dawson Malenfant, second Kieran McConnell; poem, first Lindon Goodall, second Brittany Nedelec.

The students and staff were thanked by Judy and Huguette for the effort put in by the school each year. The number of entries is outstanding each year and continues to keep the memories of those who fought for our freedom alive.
