Now that we have entered lawn-watering season, Neilburg residents are asked to remember to water only on the day that you are scheduled to water. Even numbered houses are to water on even numbered calendar days while odd numbered houses are to water on odd numbered calendar days.
The village asks that you water in the morning between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. or in the evening between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. This allows the water to be used by the lawn rather than evaporating. Only water as much as your lawn needs and not until the water is running down the sidewalk or gutter. Not only are you stressing the water supply but also you are paying for that water to run off and the storm systems are being filled with unnecessary water.
If you won't be around or tend to forget that you are watering, invest in a timer. They are inexpensive and will save you money on utility costs. If you fertilize your lawn read label directions and apply at recommended rates. If you over apply it can be stressful to your lawn and again, the excess runs into the storm water system.
Remember when you are mowing that you are also responsible for the grassed curb area adjacent to your property.
Congratulations to the Neilburg Composite School 2014 graduating class. The students celebrated graduation May 3. Good luck in your future endeavours!
The library asks that you stop in and let them know if you would like a community calendar for the next year that starts September. Calendars are $10 each.
Voting for the photo you would like to see on the next calendar is open until May 30. Head in and place your vote!
