Another CCA rodeo is in the books for Edam. The amateur bull riding was held Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. The top six of 20 riders moved onto the short go.
Once again professional rodeo clown, Dennis Halstead, entertained those in attendance. Acting as pick-up men for the event were Mike Macnab and Mark McNinch. Announcers for the evening were Henri Blaquiere, Jesse Cadrain and Lisa Blaquiere. The evening opened with the singing of the national anthem by Brett Deobald, supported by Lisa Blaquiere, and followed by an indoor "fireworks" show.
The riders making the short go were Kyle Graham of North Battleford, Jamie Maynard of Porcupine Plain, Ty Anderson of Medstead, Sarah Edwards of Glaslyn, Jesse Smith of North Battleford and James Foley of Lloydminster. Before these riders took on the bulls to see who would be the best, they were sold in a Calcutta along with the bulls.
Winning the amateur bull riding event this year was Sarah Edwards of Glaslyn. Bruce and Laura Martin of Painted River Ranch presented Sarah with a beautiful silver belt buckle.
During intermission the mutton busting was held for the little cowpokes. This year taking part was Graydon Troesch, Denver Butterfield, Veda McDonald, Lennox Ladwig, Dashal Landry from B.C., Karis Latendresse, Avery LaClare, Leah Frey, Presley Sharp, Kye Thom and Kobi Weber.
The lucky winners of the greased pig chase, during the intermissions, were: for the seven- to nine-year-olds Friday, Ashten Carlson of Meota; and for the 10-12-year-old event Saturday night, Laney Blanchette of Edam. There was also a shoe scramble for the two- to seven-year-olds Saturday with Carter Cole of Edam being the fastest to find his shoe, put it on and get back to the finish line.
Congratulations to the participants of all of the events as well as to the 50/50 winners for the three nights.
NorthernEdge Tire and TNT Small Motor Sales and Service had a big day Aug. 23. They officially opened their new building in the industrial park of Edam. NorthernEdge Tire was formerly housed in the Arnolds Sand and Gravel building since they purchased the business. Everyone was invited for a beef on a bun lunch and a tour of the building. TNT Small Motors Sales and Service will be opening Sept. 2 in the same building. Congratulations on your new building and all the best in your futures in the community!
