North Battleford Library has an interesting line up to brighten up hump day this week.

On Wednesday, April 24 the library hosts a performance by the Meota Hobby band at 2 p.m. with coffee and goodies to follow. That evening, at 7 p.m., there will be a writers' open mike. The poster says, "Nothing to share? Be a member of the audience."

Wahoo! Yeehaw! The rodeo is coming to town starting Thursday, April 26. Polish up your boots, dust off your hat and head to the Civic Centre for the North Battleford Kinsmen Indoor Rodeo. There are performances of cowboy and cowgirl skills Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Friday night is Kids' Night and Sunday is Kids' Day. There's music in the upstairs lounge and a Friday night social. You can really kick up your heels Saturday night at the Battleford Arena when the annual rodeo dance will feature Warren Noyce and the Combine Pilots.

If all that hootin' and hollerin' isn't your style, the Svoboda Dance Festival brings energy and colour to the Dekker Centre over the same three days. In addition to the lively dancing, ethnic food will be available.

Saturday the Battlefords Art Club is hosting their Spring For Art show and sale at the Chapel Gallery. The show and sale features work from 20 club members as well as quilting, photography and pottery. Doors are open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday is another busy day starting with the Autism Awareness Walk beginning at 1 p.m. at NationsWEST Field House. April is Autism Awareness Month and the poster explains the significance of the autism awareness ribbon. "The puzzle pattern of this ribbon reflects the mystery and complexity of autism. The different colours and shapes represent the diversity of people and families living with this disorder. The brightness signals hope - hope through research and raising awareness in people like you." The poster urges the community to "come out and show support for families in our community affected by this disorder."

River Heights Lodge is also hosting their fourth annual Strawberry Tea Sunday. It also features a bake sale and silent auction. The tea runs from 2 to 4 p.m. and the auction from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

The Community Youth Choir presents Spring Tuning Sunday at 3 p.m. at Third Avenue United Church. Joining the exuberant young voices in the choir will be guest artists Adam Streisel, Dr. David Morton, Meota Men's Choir and Erin Foreman.
