Keeping warm with indoor activities

Hi there! Brrr. It's so cold today. As I am writing my report out on Jan. 29, it is -39 C with the wind chill. Besides the very cold weather, we have to contend with such a large amount of snow.

Hi there! Brrr. It's so cold today. As I am writing my report out on Jan. 29, it is -39 C with the wind chill. Besides the very cold weather, we have to contend with such a large amount of snow. All in all, I'm certainly glad to see the last of January and hope to see better things in February.

It's quiet around here at the Tower. There's no doubt that we all want to stay in where it's warm but we still do have our cards, shuffleboard and bingo in the lounge, which is enjoyable.

A potluck supper was enjoyed Jan. 11. There is always so much delicious food all brought down by the cooks from Tower II.

Jan. 25, we had Second to None bring us a wonderful supper of barbecued chicken and trimmings. So, you can see that we certainly all have good appetites here at Tower II.

One evening we were glad to have Joan Archer and friends to entertain us with their fine music and singing.

Stella Goll celebrated her birthday this month by having everyone come for a coffee and cake in the lounge. Thank you, Stella. It was a lovely afternoon and happy birthday.

Maxine Finch is expecting her granddaughter and little great-granddaughter Charlie, who is five-week- old, from Swift Current. I hope you have a wonderful time together Maxine.

Anna Storgard has returned from an extensive holiday to Australia, San Francisco and San Diego. I'm sure you enjoyed your travels, Anna. She did mention smelling the smoke in Australia where there were so many fires. Now there is flooding in such a large area, so I guess we are lucky to just have some cold weather, folks.

Ann Ewanchuk has had a busy January. They had their Ukrainian Christmas Eve supper at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Present were son Orest, wife Chrissy, friend Ann Prystupa and many new Canadians from Ukraine. The small children had a very nice performance of recitations and Christmas carols. Ann also attended a special Malanka concert and brunch at the Don Ross Centre. The Zaria Dancers performed beautifully in memory of dancer Patty McGuire.

Ann's granddaughter Danielle Schorger drove her to her previous home at the Whitkow Hotel. Craig, a talented carpenter had made some beautiful renovations. Sasha made a tasty lunch and then drove Ann home.

She is now in Vancouver to take care of her sister Nel Anderson who is in the Royal Columbia Hospital in Vancouver. She was happy to hear her step-sister Kay Woytowich is progressing well in a nursing home in Langely, B.C. We also hope that your sister will soon be well again, Ann.

We are so glad that Edith Lockhart, Doug Vetter and Walter Major are out of the hospital now. We hope you all recover quickly. Get well wishes go out to Anne Loades, too, who hasn't been feeling real good lately. Hope you will soon be on the mend Anne.

Congratulations go out to our new executives who are: president- Bev McCrimmon; vice-president- Delia Thunderchild; secretary- Anne Ewanchuk; and treasurer- Maxine Finch

That all for now. Try and keep warm, folks.
