JPII grad earns U of S award

North Battleford Comprehensive High School graduate Britni Brenna has earned the 2011 APEGS gold medal for geoscience at the University of Saskatchewan.

The award was announced at convocation ceremonies May 31

Brenna has graduated from the U of S with a Bachelor of Science degree in geology, with high honours.

Brenna, who has worked as a junior geologist for an oil exploration company, has earned multiple awards during her years of study at the university. These include: the Saskatchewan Geology Society Walter Kupsch Award, Tech Scholarship, Canadian Mineral Industry Education Foundation Scholarship, NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award, College of Arts and Science Dean's List and Women's Association of the Mining Industry of Canada Foundation annual award.

Brenna has also worked as an undergraduate researcher and teaching assistant at the U of S and as a geological assistant for the Ministry of Energy and Resources.

Brenna is a member of the Saskatchewan Geological Society and Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists.
