Battlefords Jazz Society will be presenting Elizabeth Shepherd at the Dekker Centre this Saturday. Shepherd is a three-time Juno nominee selling out legendary clubs from Tokyo to Detroit, whose pop sensibility, arrestingly original writing and soulful delivery are praised by critics worldwide.
"By world class, I mean reviewers not only from Canada and the U.S., but from Germany, the UK, France and Ireland are all calling her most recent Juno-nominated album, The Signal, one of the best jazz albums of the year… in the world!" says local jazz society member Laird Brittin.
"While Elizabeth is a stellar performer in her own right, I want to point out that one of the performers who will be joining her for this show is none other than Michael Occhipinti," Brittin adds. "For those who attended the Shine On: The Universe of John Lennon show a couple of years back, you will recall the brilliance of Michael’s guitar playing. Together they a tour de force."
Rounding out the band are Scott Kemp on bass, John Day on trumpet and vocals and MacKenzie Longpré on drums.
"We are thrilled to be presenting someone of this status at the Dekker Centre where you can witness the full magnitude and beauty of Elizabeth’s music," says Brittin. " Get your tickets now at the Dekker Centre box office – at $30 it’s a bargain for one of the best shows you will see this year!"
