Borden School Kindergarten to Grade 6 held their annual Christmas Concert Dec. 20 in the Borden Community Centre.

The hall was full to watch the little ones sing and present a play. The Busy Bees Pre-school children sang I'm a Little Pine Tree, holding upcoloured pine tree branches. Grade 3 and 4 read the story of the birth of Jesus and sang Away in a Manger.

The Grade 6 class presented the play, It's Christmas, Carol with the choir comprised of kindergarten to Grade 6 students. The scene begins in Santa's workshop on Dec. 22, with the elves busy making toys for the children. Boss elf, Carol, is grumpy and vry demanding. She has them working all day and night until 2 a.m. Dec. 24 when they can have a rest. The choir sang It's Holly Time, I'm the Grumpiest Elf in Town and No One Cares.

Ghost of the oast visits Carol showing her as a happy elf a few years back. Then ghosts of present and future arrive, showing Carol her mistakes and how she needs to change. The choir sang I'm the Holiday Ghost, Deck the Halls, Jingle Bells and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

Carol reforms, the elves give her a present and everyone is happy. The toys are all made and wrapped by 3 a.m. Christmas Eve while the choir sings All I Want for Christmas and Holiday Time.

The children all gathered on the stage and on benches while Santa arrived to Here Comes Santa Claus. Gifts from the school were given to all pre-school children and the Kindergarten to Grade 6 students exchanged gifts.

Christmas is a hard time to be on a diet as everyone has goodies to share, with the Borden post office handing out chocolates, the credit union has hot cider and goodies along with the Borden Library Dec. 12. The Grade 12 pancake breakfast was on the morning of Dec. 21 and that school day was one of games, cleaning up and a floor hockey tournament for Grades 7 - 12.

Wishing everyone all the best in the New Year and have a safe holiday.
