Battle River Treaty 6 Health Centre and Battlefords Family Health Centre will host a celebration for International Women's Day Friday, March 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1192 - 101st St. (in the main foyer area and the basement conference room area).
Each year around the world, International Women's Day is celebrated on or around March 8. Thousands of events occur, not just on this day, but throughout March to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Organizations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women's groups, corporations and the media celebrate the day.
Inspiring Change is the 2014 theme chosen by the United Nations. This theme encourages advocacy for women's advancement everywhere in every way. It calls for challenging the status quo for women's equality and vigilance inspiring positive change.
The vast array of communication channels, supportive spokespeople, equality research, campaigns and corporate responsibility initiatives means everyone can be an advocate inspiring change for women's advancement.
The format for this celebration in North Battleford is that of a health and human services fair. There will be displays, booths, and activities to inform, educate and inspire women about services within the local communities. People will be entertained with offerings from local area musicians. At noon, lunch will be provided and those in attendance will hear inspirational messages from guest speakers.
